These chains will now operate using the same code, enabling seamless upgrades and strengthening security. The platform also shared the proposal for this upgrade, which was introduced by the Optimism Foundation, an Ethereum-based L2 blockchain solution.
According to the proposal, this upgrade improves the upgradability and security of the Superchain by allowing L1 contracts to be upgraded across multiple chains with just one transaction. This approach enables different chains to focus on a single smart contract implementation, streamlining the deployment and upgrade processes. It also plays a crucial role in emergency upgrade transfers, reducing the risk of exploitation in the event of a vulnerability in a smart contract. Additionally, the upgrade expands the SystemConfig to include contract addresses in the network, providing developers with a better experience and allowing consumers to access the contract addresses of the system.
