LightLink, a Layer 2 blockchain solution on the Ethereum network offering gas-free transactions in real-time to dApps and enterprises, has announced the integration of its Hummingbird client with Celestia Mainnet. This collaboration aims to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs, marking a significant milestone in LightLink’s journey towards achieving 10,000 transactions per second (TPS).
The partnership with Celestia not only enhances scalability but also lowers storage costs for LightLink. By leveraging Celestia’s distributed ledger infrastructure, LightLink can reduce storage expenses and bolster security, creating a more cost-effective and secure blockchain environment.
Currently, LightLink is accumulating a large amount of data on the Celestia test net, requiring substantial storage capacity. However, thanks to its efficient fee structure and Celestia’s cost-minimizing algorithm, LightLink benefits from relatively low storage fees, maximizing output while minimizing costs.
Roy Hui, co-founder and CEO of LightLink, emphasized the strategic significance of collaborating with Celestia. He highlighted how this partnership will reduce costs compared to Ethereum, allowing LightLink to pass on these savings to users in the form of reduced transaction fees. The ultimate goal is to create a faster, more accessible, and reliable blockchain platform that addresses the issue of high gas fees on Layer 1 protocols.
In addition to integrating Hummingbird, LightLink has secured $11.5 million in funding for research on gasless architecture. Hummingbird, the standalone client of LightLink, plays a crucial role in ensuring data availability and protection from attacks by verifying state execution, transaction inclusion, and data availability. The upcoming Blobstream tool will further enhance data availability for Layer 2 networks, enabling LightLink to develop interactive applications and games for community validators, strengthening its ecosystem.
Furthermore, LightLink has recently launched its native token, $LL, and successfully completed a seed funding round to support its mission of providing efficient blockchain solutions accessible to all. The funding will be utilized to further research gasless architecture and continue the development of innovative solutions for the blockchain industry.
