RISC Zero, a cryptocurrency venture focused on creating a scalable and user-friendly blockchain with zero-knowledge proofs, has announced a partnership with Worldcoin, an open-source and decentralized protocol that aims to provide global access to the economy. RISC Zero shared the news of the collaboration on its official Twitter account, stating that it will be helping World Chain free up blockspace by using proof aggregation. By utilizing its Universal Verifier & Steel projects, RISC Zero aims to unlock verifiable and limitless computing power for the Superchain ecosystem.
In a separate blog post, RISC Zero provided further details about the functionality of its Steel project. It explained that Steel represents a significant shift in the way developers interact with EVM-based chains. By incorporating zero-knowledge proofs and the RISC Zero zkVM, Steel allows developers to perform view calls and perform provable computations and reads on Ethereum in a secure, scalable, and cost-effective manner. This bridge between zero-knowledge technology and app development on Ethereum streamlines the process for builders to utilize ZK capabilities for smart contracts, enabling the development of more efficient, scalable, and secure apps on Ethereum layer 1 and other EVM-equivalent chains.
The collaboration between RISC Zero and Worldcoin offers benefits to both developers and users. RISC Zero’s Universal Verifier will be available on various chains, allowing affordable and convenient posting of proofs on-chain. Developers and blockchains can leverage off-chain computing and verifiable execution without limitations. Developers can use Rust projects in RISC Zero’s zkVM to seamlessly create proofs and validate them on-chain. They can also utilize Rust crates for tasks like HTML parsing, JWT verification, and game development using game engines. On the user side, decentralized applications (dApps) built on this collaboration will provide an experience similar to Web2 apps while benefiting from off-chain execution. Users will enjoy improved overall performance and experience as dApps no longer require performance tradeoffs.
