LightLink, a Layer 2 blockchain solution on the Ethereum network that offers gas-free transactions in real-time for dApps and enterprises, has announced the integration of its Hummingbird client with Celestia Mainnet. This collaboration aims to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs, marking a significant milestone in LightLink’s journey towards achieving 10,000 transactions per second (TPS).
The partnership with Celestia not only enhances scalability but also reduces storage costs for LightLink. By leveraging Celestia’s distributed ledger infrastructure, LightLink is able to create a more cost-effective and secure blockchain environment.
Currently, LightLink is accumulating a vast amount of data on the Celestia test net, leading to substantial storage requirements. Nonetheless, LightLink benefits from relatively low storage fees, thanks to its efficient fee schedule and Celestia’s cost-minimizing algorithm.
Roy Hui, LightLink’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the strategic significance of collaborating with Celestia. He highlighted how this partnership will enable LightLink to lower costs compared to Ethereum, allowing for reduced transaction fees for users. The ultimate goal is to establish a faster, more accessible, and reliable blockchain platform that addresses the issue of high gas fees on Layer 1 protocols.
In a move to advance its gasless architecture research, LightLink recently secured $11.5 million in funding. The Hummingbird client, which plays a crucial role in ensuring data security and integrity, will be followed by the development of Blobstream, a modular data flow tool that enhances data availability for Layer 2 networks. This initiative will enable LightLink to create interactive applications and games for community validators, further strengthening its ecosystem.
Furthermore, LightLink has introduced its native token, $LL, and successfully concluded its seed funding round. The funds raised will be utilized to continue researching gasless architecture for blockchains and to provide efficient solutions that are accessible to all users.
