Dabba, a provider of decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN), known for its efforts in delivering wifi connectivity to underserved markets, has announced the launch of season two of its demand-driven program. In this new phase, 10,000 additional hotspots will be rolled out and made available for purchase to participants globally. These hotspots will then be deployed by network partners across India to address the high data demand in regions with insufficient internet access.

The second season of Dabba’s DePIN service started on May 23, ahead of a significant token generation event on the Solana blockchain, scheduled for July. The introduction of a native token will create a two-sided marketplace between data consumers and providers, who play a vital role in building and maintaining the internet infrastructure. Participants in the Dabba network will be rewarded for their contributions.

To commemorate the launch of season two, Dabba has unveiled an explorer tool that allows users to locate existing data hotspots and monitor the current network performance. Initially, the explorer will display data from Dabba’s testnet, which has been operational for the past two months.

Since the inception of the Dabba testnet, over 1,500 hotspots have been deployed, connecting more than 15,000 unique devices. This has led to the consumption of over 390 TB of data and generated revenue of over $4.5K from customers utilizing Dabba’s affordable wifi service. The addition of new devices aims to meet the growing data demand and significantly increase revenue.

Dabba’s approach is aimed at addressing the real-world problem of wireless data shortages by implementing its DePIN and onboarding users before introducing Web3 features such as tokenization. This strategy ensures genuine demand for its service and establishes a scalable and viable business model.

The primary focus of Dabba’s DePIN deployment is on India, particularly rural and semi-urban areas that lack access to current data solutions. Despite having the second-largest number of internet users in the world, 44% of India’s population still lacks internet access.

Dabba’s team, with eight years of network development experience, has played a significant role in Google’s public WiFi projects in India. They have also worked closely with the Indian government to ensure supportive legislation for the rollout of their demand-based DePIN.

Participants who enroll in season two of Dabba’s DePIN program before the token generation event will be eligible for enhanced genesis rewards. Dabba’s mission is to empower over 150,000 Local Cable Operators (LCOs) functioning as micro-ISPs across India for hotspot deployments, with the aim of establishing a high-speed network connecting the world’s fifth-largest economy.

Dabba’s DePIN specializes in bridging the digital divide in underserved markets by providing access to wireless data through a robust network capable of delivering high-speed internet. By creating a two-way marketplace for wireless data, Dabba is playing a crucial role in bringing the world online.
